About License by Trade

License by Trade is an independent reference that reads each state's trade licensing requirements from the licensing board's own page or the statute, and shows the source and the date it was checked next to every figure.

How the site works

Every trade and state page is built from one official source per requirement: the licensing board's page or application, or the statute or administrative rule that sets the requirement. Each record stores the source URL and the date it was read, and pages print both. Pairs that could not be verified from an official source are left out, not estimated; the methodology page lists them.

License by Trade is independent. It is not a licensing board, a school or an exam-prep company, sells no courses and gives no legal advice. The official route is always the board itself.

Corrections

If a figure is wrong or a source has changed, email hello@licensebytrade.com with the page and a link. Corrections go into the data file and the check date updates with the next build.
